Claude Monet – Cabin of the Customs Watch – 1882

Second Sister – 11/24/14

“Is that it down there?” she asked her partner.  “Well…yes.  You did say you wanted a view.”   “How do we get down there?”  “Well…there’s a trail…well, somewhere over there, down to it.”  “Did you know all this before you booked it?”  “Well…you know a little exercise is good for us.”  “So, you didn’t.”  “Well…here let’s get the things out of the car.”  “The things?  You mean the two tons of food and wine and computers and books and extra hiking boots just in case?”  “Well…”  “Wait…did you check if there is Wi-Fi?”  “Well…I suggest we just take the stuff and start down the path so we can start to enjoy our week here.”  “Week?  You said four days!”   “Well…well…”  They got everything out of the car and started down, the only consolation that the wine and food would be consumed and the load lighter on the way back up the steep path.  At the cabin, they found the note next to the big box of candles on how to use the Coleman stove and lanterns.  “Did you bring the fuel?”  “Well…”  And as her partner hiked back up the hill, she opened a bottle of wine with which to enjoy the view and thought it might be a good time after all.
