Hippopotamus – Egypt, early Middle Kingdom

Fifth Sister – 07/08/21

…and, of course, her eyebrows raised, involuntary and automatically, as they did when viewing anything suspicious in and of itself, or as to intent, so…why was it that he sent to her a postcard with a big, bloated, blue hippopotamus on it…oh, he could be sneaky, you could never completely trust him…  Humph, she snorted, their mom was right always accusing him of being up to one of his little stunts, whatever those were, because she had to admit with him that she also never knew what these stunts were…and if she did know, well, she did know they didn’t compared to the stunts she got away with, those her mom never knew about…  She smiled.  Poor mom.  But now back to the subject at hand, this blue hippopotamus.  Was he trying to say that she was bloated with just the few extra pounds she carried around?  He will pay for that, if yes.  She would see to that somehow…  Or perhaps he was trying to imply that…that…  She decided to read what he wrote on the back, it was easy, as he only said a few words.  And he only wrote these few words, “I thought this was neat, a blue hippopotamus almost 4000 year old and still sort of pretty.”  She snorted again, one of the few real noises she knows how to make, and with lots of practice, she did snort well.  Well, even if this is all he wrote, you still can’t tell with him.  Hmm…maybe he was saying she looked 4000 years old, and she snorted again.
