Very early on June 8, I sent a lengthy email to Igor and Maxim with news about our lives and also expressing my great concern for their and their families’ lives and safety. Below is one paragraph from that email.
Дуже рано, 8 червня, я надіслав довгого електронного листа Ігорю та Максиму з новинами про наше життя, а також висловив свою велику стурбованість життям та безпекою їх та їхніх сімей. Нижче наведено один абзац з цього електронного листа.

I have been very concerned for you and your family and for everyone that we know in Ukraine because of the missile and drone strikes. In your last email message to us, you shared the depth of the fears that all of these strikes upon Kyiv is engendering in your mind and in your life. Your words touched me deeply. Recently on the news, the Defense Minister of Ukraine spoke about the toll the missiles attacks on Kyiv are having upon the people and their ability to have any normalcy or security in their lives or for their families. There was one clip of panicked young schoolchildren during the day running towards a shelter when the sirens sounded. We have talked about this aspect of the war in our discussion group, and it has grieved us and has spurred us on to even more prayer. So, we continue to pray, and I continue to write about Ukraine to keep this war and the suffering of the Ukrainian people in the minds and hearts of at least my readers.
Я дуже переживаю за вас, вашу родину та за всіх, кого ми знаємо в Україні через ракетні удари та удари безпілотників. У своєму останньому електронному листі ви поділилися глибиною страхів, які всі ці удари по Києву породжують у вашій свідомості та у вашому житті. Ваші слова глибоко зворушили мене. . I sincerely thank you for your prayers for us and for our long-suffering Ukraine. We are also concerned about the dam blowing up, although it is relatively far from us. It shows how great the human evil of our enemies, who try to cover up evil with evil. Of course, against the backdrop of the war, this news is not perceived here as it is in other countries where there is no war. We are already used to living in constant danger, under the threat of missile attacks and the endless sound of air raids. God created man so that he can adapt to anything. Now Natasha and I spend most of our time in Kyiv serving at the seminary with Greg, Bruce, Maxim, and Ruslan. Often nights turn into “Armageddon scenes”. When attacks with missiles and drones begin, our army shoots them down. In addition to the loud launches of patriots and missile explosions in the form of fireworks, you can see beams in the sky that guide the targets at night. We thank the Lord for sending Patriot systems from the United States, which shoot down all enemy missiles. Although falling debris can kill people.
Щиро дякую вам за ваші молитви за нас і за нашу багатостраждальну Україну. Ми також стурбовані підривом дамби, хоча вона відносно далека від нас. Вона показує, наскільки велике людське зло наших ворогів, які намагаються прикрити зло злом. Звичайно, на тлі війни цю новину тут не сприймають так, як в інших країнах, де немає війни. Ми вже звикли жити в постійній небезпеці, під загрозою ракетних ударів і нескінченних звуків авіанальотів. Бог створив людину для того, щоб вона могла пристосуватися до чого завгодно. Зараз ми з Наташею проводимо більшу частину часу в Києві, служачи в семінарії з Грегом, Брюсом, Максимом і Русланом. Часто ночі перетворюються на «сцени Армагеддону». Коли починаються атаки ракетами і дронами, наша армія їх збиває. Крім гучних пусків патріотів і вибухів ракет у вигляді феєрверків, в небі можна побачити промені, які наводять цілі вночі. Ми дякуємо Господу за те, що він послав зі Сполучених Штатів системи Patriot, які збивають всі ворожі ракети. Хоча падаючі уламки можуть вбити людей.
