Sunday Message to Older Grandchildren – May 15, 2022

Introduction

Usually every Sunday, I send a Sunday message out to my older grandchildren, and the message below, was sent out on May 15. As I state in the message, while enjoying the view of the moon through the fruit trees of our backyard at night, I was reminded of the song, “Somewhere Out There”, from the animated movie, “An America Tail”. A link to the movie clip of the song is provided at the bottom of this posting.

Sunday Message

Older Grandchild, this is your Sunday message and as you can see, I have attached two very unusual photos, as these are photos I took last night of the moon from our backyard after friends left who had come over for dinner.

I was looking at the moon and I remembered an animated movie from years ago that I believe was titled, “American Tail“ About the immigrant mouse community in New York around the turn of the 19th century and how a young mouse had been separated from his family.

There was one song I remember from the movie, and it was a beautiful song, about missing his family, and that in looking at the moon, he was thinking that his family was perhaps also looking at the moon at the same time and missing him, and this gave him comfort and encouragement.

I was very impressed with this thought of family and friends being separated by distances, or in the movie even just by a short distance, but not being aware of it, and one night I phoned my friend in Spokane, and I asked him to go outside and look at the moon so that we could be seeing the same thing as we talked together.

I think along these lines with my children and grandchildren scattered around the country, and now the thing that I focus on like the moon of the song, is when I pray for you, and that brings me comfort and energizes me even though you are at a distance and that we aren’t able to see each other as much as I would like.

So the next time you see the moon, you should remember those people you love, and who love you, who are far away, but who can also see the moon at the same time as you.
